grad portraits in fall

I’ve had the fun of photographing some amazing graduating girls last fall.  This is the final of the trio and I’m so glad to be able to find some time to post the pictures.  Shot in a beautiful little park on a crisp, October day, these pictures show the great style and fashion sense this high school senior has.  The one thing that I keep hearing about her is that she’s as lovely on the inside as she is on the outside, and it shines through in her portrait session.

When we lived in the US, I had the opportunity to photograph some wonderful high school seniors.  When a student graduates from high school there, it’s understood that grad portraits are more than just a quick cap-and-gown shot, but rather include on location shoots with settings, outfit changes and props that tell about who the grad is and what he or she loves.  Upon moving back to Canada, I’ve noticed that this doesn’t seem to be the case as much.  Grads are more than just a cap and gown, and I miss seeing senior pictures that celebrate the individuality of the student in them.  That’s why this session was so refreshing.  From this grad’s clothing choices to his rugby ball showing his favorite sport, these pictures are all about him and his personality. I’m looking forward to doing some more sessions like this one!

I had a fantastic time photographing this high school senior.  She and her mom were so much fun and were game for anything, including randomly stopping at old metal sheds and small riverside beaches.  This grad’s sense of style made the pictures (did you see those black, spikey shoes?) and her fun, sassy personality can be seen in all of them.  You’ll have to forgive me for posting so many.  It was hard to choose my favorites!

Mary Kay, Lia Sophia and the Girls – the final installment

Here, finally, is the last installment of the pics from our Girls’ Night Out.  There are so many other pictures I could post of all these girls – the outtakes, the group pictures, the action shot with everyone jumping but one – but they wouldn’t be nearly as funny if you weren’t there.  It’s my hope that we’ll all do this again sometime and make some more great memories.  Until then, I hope the girls who came out look at these and remember the fun.

Mary Kay, Lia Sophia and the Girls – Pt. 2

The other day I posted the first pictures of the girls from our “Girls’ Night Out” evening we had.  Here’s the next set with one more to come.  Love these ladies!

Mary Kay, Lia Sophia and the Girls

I am blessed to know some amazing teenaged girls.  So one day, I got to thinking about how fun it would be to take those already-fabulous girls and have a night just for them.  And, it just so happens that I also know a Mary Kay rep and a Lia Sophia rep who also work with these young ladies. A couple discussions and about two months later, we had a great night of make-up, jewelry, pizza, laughter, and, of course, pictures.  These are the first pics I have done from the evening, with more to come.

Makeover Day

I recently had the honor of photographing these lovely girls for a special makeover day they had.  They’ve been working together through a Bible and book study and one of the weeks gave a chance to learn all about real beauty.  I love this and was so pleased to be able to capture the memory for them.  There were so many great pics of each girl that I had a hard time choosing just one of each.  So I didn’t.

Smiling to Keep Mom Happy

You know how it goes:  Mom wants a family picture so everyone gets to oblige, whether they like it or not.  In spite of some silly faces and other hi-jinks (you should see the “out-takes”), we got some great pictures of the younger members of this family.  As for Mom?  I think she was happy with the results.  And you know the saying: if Momma’s happy…
